Valentí Sanjuan and Visto lo Visto

valenti-sanjuan-cine-catWhen Valentí Sanjuan visited our class to speak about how he uses television, he showed us many innovative ways to reach out to an audience. He talked to us about where he started, in radio and minor TV, to where he is now, pretty much running the show on Visto lo Visto. He has done so much in the industry and has really stood out to me as a major person in Barcelona today. Although people of an older generation may not recognize him because of how he does his work, many young people see him and know who he is because of his Internet show, Visto lo Visto. Visto lo Visto is in my opinion, a great new way to reach out to an audience. The young people of Catalonia really like his show because of the humor and content that come with it. He brings on so many people to be interviewed and these people come on and show their talents. Everyone from comedians to musicians come on the show and display their talents to the world. This has brought a lot of attention to Visto lo Visto and their audience is growing. Like I said before though, this is an Internet only show, which means that a lot of people of an older generation might not even know how to watch it. Like any other show though, it has a target audience, and the target audience for them are young people that go on the computer for most of their entertainment. One of my favorite parts of the show, and something that Valentí Sanjuan went into a lot of detail in class about, is how they make their money via sponsors  On a normal television show, the show would be interrupted by an advertisement promoting the company that bought a time slot to be mentioned in the show. This sometimes takes away from the shows flow and turns people away. Visto lo Visto does something entirely different and incorporates their sponsors in a much more entertaining way. They use what ever product is being promoted (he gave an example of beer) and incorporate it into the show in a skit or segment. They make sure they mention the product throughout, but make it entertaining to the point where you remember the product and find it entertaining to watch. Aspects like this in the show Visto lo Visto make people like Valentí Sanjuan very innovative in the world of entertainment. It would be great to see more shows like this pop up around the world because of the way it can reach more of a audience.
