Budapest

DSCN0850It’s been a long time and a lot of travelling has come and gone, but one of the highlights of my European adventures has to be visiting Budapest. We went to see our friend from school and right from the start is was incredible. It started off nice and snowy and it really reminded me of home. Not saying that’s a good thing, but it was still nice. Anyway, we started out finding our friends apartment which was conveniently located between the famous Chain Bridge and the Buda Castle Tunnel. Being at an awesome location right from the start was great, and it only got better. We climbed a little bit of Castle Hill, which was great to see even in the snow. I also had my first bowl of goulash, which I must say was delicious. That pretty much sums up the first day in Budapest, but the rest of the trip was incredible.

The next day in Budapest, we thought was going to be a national holiday in Hungary so we walked around our friends neighborhood for a little bit and grabbed lunch. What we found out soon after that though, is that the holiday was cancelled! The snowstorm was so bad that they had to cancel all activities in the city. That didn’t stop us from moving though and we met some cool people that were studying there, and we proceeded to see the rest of the city. We started by climbing up all of Castle Hill. Everything from the Buda Castle to the Sandor Palace was there and it was great to see. So much history and things to learn from there. We spent most of the day there and saw other things like Matthias Church and more incredible views of the city.

DSCN0860Our last day in this awesome city involved seeing Hero’s Square, where there are statues ranging from mythical creatures to Ronald Reagan. It was very cool to check out city park also, especially at night. The lighting was awesome and we saw more cool statues and historical artifacts. After that, we had to make our 6am flight so we decided to call it a night. Overall though, Budapest had to of been one of the best and most fun cities I’ve been in in Europe and I definitely recommend everyone to go check it out, except maybe not when it’s snowing.
